The Governors of Oldham Hulme Grammar Schools are committed to broadening access to the school by offering eligible parents/guardians means-tested financial support with the payment of school fees. Such support is known as a Bursary and they are awarded in the form of a remission against tuition fees.

The awards are based on each child’s performance in the entrance exam and vary according to the financial, compassionate or other pertinent circumstances of applicants. The awards may, in exceptional cases, amount to 100% of the fees. Bursaries are only available to pupils entering years 7 and 12 and the funds available are limited so we must point out that even though parents may satisfy every criteria they may not receive an award.

Applicants for a bursary will need to complete an application form that is automatically sent to parents when they register their child to sit the entrance exam.

This requires details of the parents’ financial situation and if assistance is awarded we will request documentary evidence to support the information. Parents given an award will also be asked to complete a repeat assessment in the same way on an annual basis. The school reserves the right to make home visits to discuss the application.

For further information please see the Bursary Policy or contact the Bursar’s Office.
